  • USA Heavyweight Division.

What's happened to the USA' s heavyweight boxing division?

Some great boxers down the years. Ezzard Charles, Rocky Marciano, Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, Roy Jones Jnr.

Then a bum in the name of Charles Martin comes over. Worst Champion I've seen in a long time. Anthony Joshua destroyed him easily in 2 Rounds.

The truth of the matter is if you are American, a legit athlete and of the size required to be a true heavyweight there are far more lucrative paths you can take whether that is in the NFL or elsewhere.

I was at the O2 arena last night for the fight and the fact of the matter is Charles Martin made the correct decision in staying down if he got up he would have been knock down again soon after why risk getting seriously hurt when you know you are out of your depth.

Another thing Joshua is a legit 240 pounds plus in condition, Martin would have to go down to something like 230 or even 225 where he would give up too much size. He is an under card boxer who got lucky in a weak division and won a heavyweight title not his fault but just symptom of how boxing is now.

Good points here but I don't necessarily agree with the lucrative part...I think it's just interest...most people would prefer tackling someone or hitting a baseball than getting punched in the face...I mean in reality the big time boxers like Floyd and Manny and a few others can make more in one fight than the majority of athletes can make in a year...I know it's a outlier but Floyd made over 350 million in fighting Manny...there is only a handful of athletes who have made that In there careers..

Deontay wilder is pretty good and is from Alabama. He is a champion now and undefeated but i think soon if or when he fights fury he'll beat him and be the true Heavyweight champion.

The heavyweight division is actually looking pretty strong again probably the best its been since the lennox lewis days.

Wilder has the power to make a good challenge in the division. Defensively, he's not the greatest. He hasn't fought anyone of note, who has severe punching ability.

Can he beat Fury? Yes, but I can't see him holding that belt for long if he did.

I think with a few more fights under his belt, a lot more learning, Anthony Joshua will rule the division for years.
